Where will it take me

The Mpumalanga Province which hosts the world renowned Kruger National Park – nestled in the eastern part of South Africa, sharing borders with Mozambique and Swaziland.

What is there to see

An exceptionally mix of wildlife, including some 490 species of birds, 147 mammal species, 94 different reptile species, 33 types amphibians and a magnificent array of at least 336 different kind of trees.

Look out for

Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Buffalo and Leopard during game drives conducted in open game drive vehicles.

Worth a splurge

The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial library at the Skukuza Restcamp in the Kruger National Park. Stevenson-Hamilton was the first ranger in the Kruger Park and ruled from 1902 until his retirement in 1946.

Something to consider

Spending an additional night in Johannesburg to arrange a tour to Soweto, one of the Urban black townships in the area. Here you will find former homes of Nelson Mandela and Artsbishop Tutu where you swop stories with the locals in typical shebeens (African bars) or try authentic African cuisine in a township restaurant.

Itenerary

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

We leave Johannesburg for the Mpumalanga Province and the Kruger National Park – Nearly 8000sq miles of undisturbed savanna, woodland, riverine forest and craggy mountain ranges.

We enter Kruger Park in the Southern part of the Reserve. En route to our camp we enjoy an afternoon game drive. (Kruger National Park or similar) (D)

Day 2: Kruger National Park

Smell the sun warmed grass and aroma of Elephant dung as we start early morning to experience the real essence of the Kruger Park. We spend time at waterholes, lookout points and stop at picnic spots, at regular intervals to enjoy meals and refreshments. A full day game drive will increase chances of viewing Africa’s famed “Big five”. As an optional activity, you can embark on a sunset/night drive equipped with spotlights, conducted by one of the Kruger Park’s rangers. (Kruger National Park or similar) (BLD)

Day 3: Kruger National Park – Johannesburg

After an early breakfast, we depart the Kruger National Park and travel back to Johannesburg via the scenic Panoramic Mountain Route, best known for its cultural heritage and its dramatic landscapes. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. Further north along the route, we stop along many well-positioned vantage points from where one has a view of the 33 km long Blyde River Canyon gorge.

The tour ends on arrival at your Johannesburg based hotel or with drop-off at the O.R. Tambo International Airport by 18h00.(B)
